Consortium partners meet for ‘SongTales sa Spéir’

It’s almost time for our SongTales sa Spéir pilot tour!

Over the last 6 months we have been working on a truly exciting project called SongTales sa Spéir.  This has involved a consortium of project partners from across Co. Monaghan including Music Generation Cavan / Monaghan, Íontas Theatre, Creative Monaghan, the Local Arts in Education Partnership, Monaghan County Council, the National Childhood Network, and 12 schools/preschools from across the county. The project is funded through the Arts Council’s Capacity Building Support Scheme.

The aims of our SongTales sa Spéir pilot project are three-fold:

pastedGraphic.png To cultivate a partnership ecosystem for traditional arts for children in Monaghan

pastedGraphic.png To convert the SongTales van and work with a branding agency so that we can pilot a new model of engaging schools/preschools in Monaghan

pastedGraphic.png To collaborate with the National Childhood Network to develop rich resources that will link Ceol Connected’s work to Aistear so that children can meaningfully engage with the music and songs through play.

So what’s been going on?

✅ Our Ceol Connected van is converted and (almost) wrapped with a beautiful design created by Tap Creative – we can’t wait for the big reveal!

✅ The tour of 12 schools and preschools has been organised by our fantastic Creative Producer Brioni Gallagher in partnership with Music Generation Cavan / Monaghan and Íontas Theatre.

✅ The SongTales sa Spéir band are meeting to rehearse music and songs from TREEHOUSE that we will perform at schools as part of this pilot project.

✅ Beautiful and engaging resources have been developed by the National Childhood Network so that children across the county can engage with the music, songs, stories, and themes from the show before the performance arrives at their school.

✅  We have met with the schools/preschools involved so that they can explore the SongTales sa Spéir resource packs and then bring the experience back to their settings.

Lots more to share in the coming months so stayed tuned!
